We came across an article the other day on open-source and inexpensive drawing apps for your Mac, Linux or Windows machine. We wanted to share some of this with our readers.
Sketch
Sketch is a vector drawing program for the Mac platform. It offers a fairly complete vector drawing toolset, including complex path transformation tools, grouping, multi-page documents and support for libraries and symbols.
Sketch is produced by Bohemian Coding and the program requires OS X version 10.6+. It is at version 1.0 and cost 40.USD.
Inkscape
Inkscape is an open-source vector drawing program for Mac, Windows and Linux. Not as robust and complete as Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape nonetheless has a very solid set of tools, including a complete set of vector drawing tools for shapes and paths, including freehand drawing, object transformations and manipulation tools, a layering system, object grouping, cloning, gradient fills and node editing.
Inkscape can be found at the Inkscape.org website. It is free.
Anyway, there are other great and interesting vector drawing tools for the Mac and image editors too that might be of interest to you. You can read more at the full article here and we’d like to point out a few now.
