Mac3D News: New Strata 3D Pro training videos available

Fans of Strata 3D Pro (formerly Strata Studio Pro) have something to cheer about. Strata has announced that Peter Weishar, Professor of Computer Animation at New York University Film School, has a new Strata 3D Pro training video series!

Strata is offering the new video instruction kit at a special price. Books and each training video are $39.95, while training CD's are $14.95. Training video box set and series CD bundle are $99.95, and that same series with the book is $129.95.

According to the press release:

"Digital Space" [the book] has become a popular standard text in the field of 3D design. Weishar takes the reader though the process of planning, modeling, texture mapping, lighting, and rendering computer generated 3D models in this clear, well-organized volume. His breezy writing style and often humorous antidotes make Digital Space an informative, pleasurable read. Included, are chapters on creating interior and exterior spaces, trompe l'oeil, and an excellent, 25 page glossary of terms. In addition, this book contains in depth interviews with the 3D luminaries Chuck Carter and Robyn Miller (the artists who created Myst), and Ron Thornton (owner of Foundation Imaging).

Digital Space contains many of the same examples shown on the video tapes, fully illustrated and covered in detail. Almost all of the illustrations were produced using Strata, making Digital Space a terrific companion to the Strata 3D Pro Series. 248 pages, over 275 illustrations, 32 pages of full color."

Training Videos:

Volume 1: Basics - Boolean modeling, extrude path, skin/unskin, textures, basic animation, animation along path, rendering types, camera angles.

Volume 2: Modeling - Exterior environments, Interior environments, modeling complex objects, using skins, polygon group, spline reflection, thickness, metaballs, etc.

Volume 3: Animation: Particle effects, motion blurs, rendering motion blur, Morphing and Cycling, Add attributes, inverse kinematics, etc.

The Strata 3D Pro Training Series CD-ROM contains all of the source files for every example in the video tapes.
