GRAPHISOFT’s PARAM-O technology in now fully available cross-platform

GRAPHISOFT’s PARAM-O technology was first introduced in Archicad 24 as a technology preview, allowing users to create their own custom-built parametric objects without the need to write a single line of GDL code. The latest update to Archicad 24 makes PARAM-O now fully available cross-platform to both macOS and Windows users.

PARAM-O Tech

The node-based, graphical parametric object creation tool is now ready for prime time on both platforms and signals GRAPHISOFT’s new approach to releasing quality and feature improvements to all users as they become ready for use. This makes it easier for users to upgrade and benefit right away, says the software company.

Complex sculpture objects that are fully parametrically controllable like this wood wall are possible with PARAM-O.

PARAM-O is a sophisticated new tool inside Archicad 24 that makes it easy for architects and designers to create custom parametric design components and inject them with endless variation capacity. Architecture students in particular can rapidly iterate complex unique forms and experiment with various designs and shapes using PARAM-O, and it will no doubt inspire practitioners to be more inventive.

Large architectural practices will value the iteration and customization capacities of PARAM-O as well, enabling them to develop custom and reusable objects, including manufacturer-specific object libraries that comply with their firm’s design and documentation standards—saving time and resources.

“The nodes make it so easy to work in PARAM-O,” said Peter Koncz, BIM Manager at Leroy Street Studio in New York. “Because we carefully design every project down to the smallest detail, we need to build a lot of custom components. Creating reusable parametric objects without writing code has made this process quick and easy for us,” he added.

Other Improvements in Update

Other improvements in this update focus on an enhanced Integrated Design workflow: Using a predefined or customized Excel database file to automatically map Manufactured Profiles to SAF Cross Sections at export saves time and effort compared to mapping by hand. The same database file can be used at import, export, or both.

“Our commitment to continuous improvement of our software solutions is key to reacting to customer needs. In today’s fast-paced environment, agility is at the core of innovation,” said Zsolt Kerecsen, Vice President, Software Success, at GRAPHISOFT.
