Autodesk has announced the global expansion of Autodesk BIM 360 Design with options for a new European data center. The Europe-based data center offers storage for product data and a connection to Collaboration for Plant 3D.
Autodesk reports that BIM 360 Design usage, measured in terms of new project creations, has jumped by approximately 350 percent globally since working conditions shifted from office to home in mid-February. The COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on society mean that isolation has shut down offices around the world. Cloud-based solutions and services like BIM 360 Design have become life-savers for numerous firms.
BIM 360 Design
In Europe, the number of subscribers to BIM 360 Design has doubled since the beginning of Q1-2020, alone. As part of Autodesk’s global response to the COVID-19 pandemic, BIM 360 Design for Revit is available for free until 31 May 2020.
BIM 360 Design helps design and technical professionals collaborate in real-time from anywhere, anytime, within their own company, among multiple stakeholders and disciplines.
“We are always looking to drive efficiency in our design process, so we have put cloud-based collaboration at the core of our practice,” said Alex Mortiboys, Head of BIM at Dutch architecture firm, Office of Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). “With the confidence in a European data center, we can expand our ability to propose BIM 360 Design to our public and private clients in Europe and beyond. This will help us provide greater efficiency and transparency to our clients.”
More than Europe Data Center
BIM 360 Design now includes a connection with AutoCAD Plant 3D, joining BIM 360 Design for Revit and Civil 3D in the cloud.
