ARCHICAD 22 is United Kingdom’s ‘BIM Product of the Year’—Winner of Hammer Award

GRAPHISOFT, of Budapest, Hungary, has announced that its flagship BIM application, ARCHICAD 22, has won its eighth consecutive “Hammer Award”, officially known as Construction Computing Awards for the category of ‘BIM product of the year.’

The United Kingdom’s Construction Computing Magazine hosts its annual Construction Computing Awards each year, affectionately known as “The Hammers” and are voted for by industry-wide professionals and real users to recognize innovative solutions that are actively deployed and in use in the UK-based construction market.

As one of the few awards covering the use of IT in design and construction, the awards are known for reflecting actual users’ experiences with products for delivering projects.

GRAPHISOFT Dominates BIM Honors at Hammers

“We are pleased and proud to once again be recognized by our users at the Construction Computing Awards,” said Akos Pfemeter, GRAPHISOFT’s Vice President, Marketing.  “Our year-on-year success in these 100% customer-voted awards underscores the value our users attach to both ARCHICAD and BIMx.”

GRAPHISOFT’s BIMx was also the winner in “Mobile BIM App of the Year.” A multi-award winning mobile application originally released for Apple iOS devices and now on Android too, BIMx features the Hyper-model, a unique technology for integrated 2D and 3D building project navigation.

“Doing so well in these awards, for eight successive years, means so much to us with our users appreciating the enhancements and upgrades that we continually make to ARCHICAD and BIMx,” said Adrian Girling, Managing Director, GRAPHISOFT UK.

Architosh Analysis and Commentary

The fact that ARCHICAD has won the top BIM honor eight years in a row clearly says something about both the perception and popularity of ARCHICAD as an innovator in the BIM software space. In looking at the award honors in various categories year after year, there are some companies that come up consistently across certain categories while other category winners can very much over time. While BIMx won the mobile field category this year, the runner-up was Viewpoint for Viewpoint Field View. Last year, Viewpoint Field View was the winner while BIMx was runner-up. Viewpoint, which was acquired by Trimble earlier this year, is a leading global AEC industry CDE (common data environment) and quite popular in the UK.

The diversity of winners in all categories is extensive. Autodesk, Vectorworks, Bentley, and Trimble are major AEC industry software houses that win or grab runner-ups often, year after year. It is clear that the UK market, like the EU market, has a much tighter competitive use landscape in AEC software than in the United States. This obviously leads to the diversity of winners in the Construction Computing Awards.

The Hammers, as they are called, are a good checkpoint for readers to see what is new and hot in AEC industry software, for both design-side and construct-side professionals.
