Bluebeam Revu for Mac 2.0 Now Out—All New PDF Rendering Engine

Bluebeam, a Nemetschek Company, has quietly announced version Revu for Mac 2.0. The updated Mac desktop version of its flagship product for Windows has numerous new features and has evolved to meet the needs of users in the design and construction industries.

Designed to make the whole team more productive, Bluebeam’s copy reads, “Windows users aren’t the only ones who tackle challenging design and construction projects. So Revu for Mac has evolved too.”

Revu for Mac 2.0—What’s New

Bluebeam Revu Mac 2.0 is the next major version of a long-awaited product in the construction industry, where Apple’s iPads and iPhones aren’t just the only Cupertino products favored among construction pros. Construction trailers increasingly are populated with Apple MacBook Pros and iMac computers. Revu for Mac has been a pivotal product for these types of users.

01 – The new Bluebeam Revu for Mac 2.0 offers a streamlined user-interface but the killer feature is likely the all new PDF rendering engine for faster display.

Bluebeam has tackled the performance issue by building Revu for Mac around an all-new [PDF] rendering engine. This will result in faster and smoother scrolling and zooming across drawings and in particular, says the company, on large Apple Retina displays.

At the interface level, Revu Mac 2.0 adds a new Properties Toolbar across the top of the interface, which presents more of the tools you need in a much smaller screen space. All new streamlined panel views make the navigation more simple, and there is a dashboard-style Studio Projects interface plus customizable keyboard shortcuts to help power users become even zippier!

The Details

Markups can be assigned to layers and that way they can be toggled on or off to display desired PDF data. Like before in Revu Mac you can save and organize a custom Tool Chest. HyperLinks are supported so users can enable users to jump to product spec sheets online or to other pages within a PDF set or to network files.

02 – A big picture feature list of what one can do with Revu for Mac 2.0.

Multiview means you can split your screen into 2, 4 or even up to 16 different viewports to view different PDFs or different areas of the same PDF across one or multiple displays. And Overlay Pages support means you can pick two or more PDFs for comparison and assign colors to each page so you can compare them for “differences” which appear via combined and non-combined colors.

Bluebeam Studio is built directly into Revu for Mac 2.0 and enables document management and real-time collaboration. Bluebeam Studio Projects gives your customers a single centralized location to store documents while Bluebeam Studio Sessions lets teams review, mark up, and modify and update files at the same time via the cloud.

Revu for Mac customers who purchased after 1 August 2018 are eligible for a free version upgrade to Revu for Mac 2.0. Prior customers must pay an upgrade license fee. Details can be found here.
