AKVIS has announced its new image editor, AliveColors for Mac and Windows. AliveColors is a full-featured image editor that is meant to compete with both consumer-grade and pro tools like Adobe Photoshop in many areas. AliveColors comes in both a Home and Pro edition and is available on both Mac and Windows platforms.
Comprehensive and Affordable
AliveColors offers a comprehensive range of image editing features, letting users edit, retouch and enhance digital images in an easy software environment and at a cost much less than its several professional-oriented competitors. AKVIS says the developer’s goal with AliveColors was to give users the creative freedom to implement their design ideas using a single piece of software.
AliveColors is more than an image editor, it also supports vector-based graphics such as line drawings, logos, or information graphics using vector-based objects with text. On its image editing side, the program’s multipurpose tools support image adjustment tools, filters, effects and other image processing functions.

Noise reduction filters and blur effects help photographers deal with touching up existing and new photos, while tonal and color controls provide an array of prepress adjustment capabilities. Users can also create “HDR imagery” from AliveColors, edit RAW images, and combine multiple images into collages. Additionally, AliveColors supports plugins both by AKVIS (which sells plugins) and third-party developers.
Finally, AliveColors is multilingual and supports 4k and 5k displays; it is currently available in English, German, French, Italian, and Russian.
Availability and Costs
The new image editor is available for download at alivecolors.com. The trial version is fully functional for 10 days. The software runs on Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10; and on Mac OS X 10.7-10.11 and macOS 10.12 – 64-bit only. AliveColors comes in Home and Pro versions, with differing levels of functionality. Users have a choice between lifetime licenses ($ 49/$ 160) and subscription options ($ 2/ $ 5). Also, the Free version with limited functionality is available.
