AU 2016: Chaos Group Announces €2 Million Investment in CL3VER

From Autodesk University 2016, news comes today that Chaos Group, a world leader in computer graphics technology, and CL3VER, an award-winning Barcelona-based startup, announced a new strategic partnership, aimed at building the world’s most powerful and interactive 3D visualization and communications platform for the AEC and design industries.

Partnership Comes with €2 Million Investment

To support the partnership, Chaos Group has invested 2 million euros in CL3VER, which is set to debut a new line of real-time mobile, web, and VR applications next spring. CL3VER’s cloud-based tools turn designs into an interactive 3D presentation environment, enabling stakeholders to speed up project design decisions, improve collaboration among disparate stakeholders and team members, and shorten the customer feedback loop.

The first mission in the new partnership will be to connect V-Ray, an industry-standard rendering technology used by 92 of the top 100 architecture firms, to CL3VER’s interactive presentation platform. Onboard V-Ray will empower CL3VER users with much more realistic rendering.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the new era of AEC storytelling,” says Viktor Nordstrom, founder and CEO of CL3VER. “Together, Chaos Group and CL3VER will introduce a new platform that puts two essential tools into one place, so designs can be presented and shared in their best form, at any stage of the process.”

Presentations have traditionally been a time-consuming part of the AEC project lifecycle, from the first conceptual designs through facilities management. While tools are available, they are often disconnected, making it a challenge to share work with others. The joint platform will remove this hurdle, bridging V-Ray’s visualization capabilities with CL3VER’s intuitive communication tools, so architects can access strong, compelling visuals on any browser or mobile device.

First Connection To V-Ray

CL3VER’s first connection to V-Ray will be the new V-Ray 3 for Revit, a link that debuted as a demo at AIA 2016 in Philly. VR compatibility is also coming soon.

“What CL3VER has done for architects is really exciting,” says Peter Mitev, CEO of Chaos Group. “A simple way to communicate and share your ideas has been a big challenge for a long time. We look forward to helping them solve it.”
