Autodesk this week has introduced the Stingray Engine to propel design visualization for AEC industries into new interactive directions. Autodesk made the announcement at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in Europe.
Stingray for Interactivity
Stingray Engine is built on the powerful, data-driven architecture of the Bitsquid engine, which Autodesk acquired last summer. With Stingray Autodesk brings a powerful interactivity engine to its visualization arsenal for AEC tools, principally leveraging a Revit and 3ds Max workflow model wherein models are taken from the latter program into Stingray for scripted interactivity within the context of superb photo-realistic rendering.
Stingray is a powerful, real-time (GPU based) rendering engine that will power Autodesk’s vision for a connected visualization within a BIM process. By allowing for real-time rendered environments with interactivity, stakeholders in AEC projects can understand fully the scale, feel, and experience of building environments before construction starts. Real time control allows design changes to be explored in a compelling, visual way.

Angi Izzi, Senior Strategy Manager for Architecture, Autodesk, told Architosh that Stingray also supports emerging VR hardware kits for complete, immersive virtual reality experiences.
Availability
