The CAD Society annually awards winners, in several categories, coincident with the annual COFES conference in Scottsdale, Arizona—the Congress on the Future of Engineering Software.

This year the CAD Society’s Lifetime Achievement award, an honor attributable to a lifetime of outstanding technical and business contributions to the CAD industry, goes to Dr. Jon Peddie, of Jon Peddie Research (JPR). Dr. Peddie is a pioneer in the graphics industry and his research company is the industry’s most knowledgeable source of market data on GPUs, workstations, et cetera.

A lecturer and book author, Dr. Peddie often speaks at conferences and is the former president of SIGGRAPH Pioneers. His most recent book is titled, The History of Visual Magic in Computers. He joins past Lifetime Achievement Award recipients such as Ivan Sutherland, Dean Kamen and Patrick Hanratty.

This year the CAD Society’s Joe Greco Community Award goes to two recipients, in Bob Deragisch, Director, Engineering Services, Parker Hannifin and President, COE; and the second recipient in Jon Jarrett, Director, Orbital ATK and Technical Director, PLM World. Both recipients have worked dedicatedly to serving the needs of CAD user communities.

Previous award winners for the Joe Greco Award include veteran CAD journalist and author, Ralph Grabowski of UpFront.Ezine newsletter, CAD industry writer and editor Al Dean, and Autodesk AutoCAD super girl (super-woman) Lynn Allen.

The Leadership Award is presented to outstanding technical and business leadership in the CAD industry, and focus and dedication to the needs of CAD users. The winner of the Leadership Award will remain under wraps until an announcement is made and the award presented on the evening of 18 April 2015 at COFES 2015. Past winners of the Leadership Award have included Carl Bass, Jon Hirschtick, and Ping Fu.
