Graphisoft promotes Paperless Architect’s office with new BIMx Docs

Graphisoft of Hungary has a new YouTube video ad out. The new spot goes through the practical and philosophical advantages of not printing paper-based construction drawings. Instead, the spot softly suggest that perhaps BIMx Docs is the answer for those who agree with the spot’s basic premises.

Indeed, BIMx Docs is the new app from Graphisoft that powerfully enables you to take your entire BIM project with you on your iPad. No more carrying around tons of rolls of construction drawings or presentation drawings. Instead, you can use BIMx Docs, which combines the ability to both view the BIM geometry model in conjunction with the 2D documents that are generated from the BIM model.

While there are many iOS tools available for the iPad that offer numerous similar advantages to BIMx Docs (see, Architosh, “Ultimate iPad Guide: Apps for Architects”, 21 Mar 2013) none of them do exactly what BIMx Docs does–beautifully and visually integrate a BIM model viewing experience with 2D documentation linked together.

Architosh is currently reviewing BIMx Docs and will have our extensive review completely soon, but in the meantime, what you should know about BIMx Docs–which works with one of the leading BIM authoring applications on the market, ArchiCAD–is that BIMx Docs is currently, for the most part, in a class by itself.
