Matt Riveccie, communications manager at e-on software, wrote to share the news of published rendered results of what the Plant Factory technology can produce.
e-on software’s The Plant Factory is is a new venture for them and is powered by their digital nature software technology. The company says the new technology represents the culmination of e-on software’s decades of expertise in the field of digital nature and delivers unsurpassed realism and performance.
The Plant Factory
As a next generation vegetation platform, The Plant Factory incorporates four foundational elements:
- Multi-Platform/Multi-Discipline –operates across all CG platforms including real-time, streaming and offline rendering systems and caters to the needs of CG, SFX, landscaping, geodesign, architecture and gaming professional communities
- Botantical Coherency — allows the creation of more botanically accurate plant appearances and behaviors
- Precise Control — users can create plants of any desired shape, appearance, and behavior using simple building blocks
- Massive Populations — building on e-on software’s leadership in EcoSystem to create landscapes containing millions of plants
e-on software is finalizing the preparation of the first commercial applications of this technology and will publish updates soon. In the meantime, you can see some of the rendered results of The Plant Factory in this article. To learn more visit here.
Architosh Analysis
So from the looks of it The Plant Factory is going to be exactly what it implies: you make plants and trees there for use in your 3D software application. How you acquire the plants you make is not yet clear but if the technology enables you to make just a few specific species (think IKEA for digital plants!) then that would be quite flexible. We imagine it may be subscription based in which the system is delivered as software as a service (SaaS).
