Over the next few weeks Architosh will be focusing in on software for sustainable design (Green Design) and there are quite a lot of products out there that run on the Mac and, thanks to the Mac’s surging growth, more are coming to the Mac every month.
This first tool is called SunAngle Software, written by Sustainable By Design, a consulting firm in Seattle, Washington, USA, owned by Christopher Gronbeck.
Used around the world since 1995, SunAngle Software is a premium shareware tool that calculates solar angles based on location, date and time, anywhere in the world. SunAngle runs directly in your web browser on your Mac or PC.
A more advanced version of the software is available as a stand-alone program and runs on both Mac and Windows and simply requires Microsoft Excel and Adobe PDF Reader. That product includes a thorough documentation manual, SunAngle for JavaScript–a more robust version of the shareware version, SunAngle for Excel and other standalone versions of many of the other free shareware tools by the company.
The advanced version costs 40.USD for electronic delivery or 50.USD for CD-ROM. The Web-based solution is free. You can learn more here: http://www.susdesign.com/
