Nvidia delivers Quadro Fermi Architecture for Mac Pro

Nvidia announced this week that it has expanded its line of award-winning Nvidia Quadro Fermi architecture GPUs to the Apple Mac Pro lineup. Now Mac Pro users can experience the break-through computational and visualization power for Fermi Architecture.

Nvidia Quadro 4000 GPU for Mac

The high-end Nvidia Quadro 4000 GPU for Mac, with 256 Nvidia CUDA processing cores and 2GB of GDDR5 memory, delivers exceptional graphics performance across a broad range of design, animation and video applications. With the new Nvidia Scalable Geometry Engine technology, the Quadro 4000 for Mac can process up to 890 million triangles per second, enabling professionals to design, iterate and deliver quality results in less time.

The Quadro 4000 GPU for Mac also provides additional display flexibility through a DisplayPort and a DVI-I (Dual Link) connector built into its bracket, and a 3D stereo bracket for optimal stereo connection to the system.  A DisplayPort to mini-DisplayPort cable is also included to enable mini-DisplayPort only Apple displays. Additionally, users can enable up to four high resolution displays from a single Mac Pro using dual NVIDIA Quadro 4000 for Mac boards.

The Quadro 4000 for Mac supports a memory bandwidth of 89.6 GB/sec., over a 256 bit memory interface. It’s maximum display resolution is 2560×1600 pixels and it supports 3D stereo via a 3-pin Mini-DIN port. Shader Model 5.0, OpenGL 4.1 and Microsoft DirectX 11 round out support architectures.

The price for the Nvidia Quadro 4000 for Mac is 1199.USD and will be available from Apple directly and from select Apple resellers and system integrators.
