ParaCloud has released GEM Version 3.0 for Mac and Windows. The GEM platform is growing fast, providing advanced functionality with a simple user interface.
Earlier this year Architosh brought to the attention of the Mac world the release of ParaCloud GEM 2.0. This latest released continues to demonstrate that ParaCloud GEM is the most accessible generative design solution available today, with no requirements for scripting or spaghetti wiring. You can add generative modeling to any CAD application supporting OBJ or DXF formats.
The ParaCloud team is noting that ParaCloud GEM is a great companion for Rhino, SketchUp Pro, Maya, 3DS Max, Cinema 4D and more. You can download a demo copy here.
New in Version 3.0
New in version 3.0 are additional subdivision tools and modes of operation. The subdivisions can be assigned by proximity to targets, randomly or using fixed values. All subdivisions can be assigned by a face map or globally.
The face editing tools were extended to include additional control for the face echo command and other face items. And the new face map tools include Checkerboar, Alternate Map, Sequence Map, and First Ten options. The mapping tools makes it easier to handle components populations and separating the mesh file for Ribs output.
Also new include unfolded component layout for 3D printing and shop drawings. And the Ribs command allows for creating 3D ribs structures along the mesh edges or diagonals. A notching system is created automatically specifying the material thickness. And finally the Action Sequencer provides an editable parametric control over the modeling activity in a GEM session.
