Nemetschek Begins 2025 Strong — Tech Trends and AI Assistant

The Nemetschek Group of Munich, Germany, a global AEC/O software company, has released a press release on what it sees as its top trends for AEC/O in 2025. The company has also announced progress with its AI Assistant technology that will gain traction throughout the Group’s products but is spearheaded inside Graphisoft’s Archicad and other tools. More on that below.

Trends in 2025

Among the several trends forecast for AEC/O in 2025, Interoperability is one of the big ones.

“Our commitment at the Nemetschek Group to open standards and workflow transparency enables users to focus on being creative and delivering high-quality projects. Overall, we believe that interoperability must not be a ground for competition: Only if everyone in the construction industry speaks the same language can innovative solutions for the construction of the future emerge from this dialog,” says Usman Shuja, Chief Division Officer of Build & Construct, CEO Bluebeam, and Member of the Executive Board, Nemetschek Group.

I believe that the coming year will mark a significant step forward in the evolution of AI, with its applications maturing and being deployed more broadly across the industry.

Besides continued focus and meaning on Interoperability in the building industry, another key trend going forward is Digital Twins. Digital Twins deliver value to the entire AEC/O sector from the intelligent leveraging of data—data that comes from a building’s use and maintenance or what is otherwise its operations. This data, when paired with artificial intelligence (AI) systems, will streamline all operations and be positively impactful for future building design.

The Group also sees the importance of having an open mind to new kinds of solutions to help the industry drive innovation forward. Chiefly, building industry professionals need to think openly about delaying AI technologies.

“I believe that the coming year will mark a significant step forward in the evolution of AI, with its applications maturing and being deployed more broadly across the industry. At Nemetschek Group, we support the responsible and widespread adoption of AI because of its transformative potential to address the many challenges facing the AEC/O sector,” says Manish Sharma, SVP – M&A Product & Technology, Nemetschek Group:

In addition to these and the industry’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, the Nemetschek Group also believes in the importance of ease of use in technologies and the role that it plays in the adoption of digital tools. “By prioritizing intuitive, user-friendly design, we empower users to focus on what they do best, free from the burden of navigating complicated tools. I strongly believe in simplicity as the key to driving technology adoption across all professions in the building lifecycle, says César Flores Rodríguez, Chief Division Officer Planning & Design and Digital Twin, Nemetschek Group.”

Nemetschek AI Assistant

At BAU 2025 in Munich, Germany, one of Europe’s largest AEC/O industry trade shows and conferences, Nemetschek Group introduced its latest AI advancements promising to drive innovation, productivity, and even creativity within the industry.

AI Assistant by the Nemetschek Group is the Group’s first AI-driven technology and product first being deployed inside Archicad and ALLPLAN. It will spread throughout the Group’s solutions.

AI Assistant is the Group’s second AI-agent-based technology and is first available inside of ALLPLAN and Archicad. The first AI technology was AI Visualizer. The technology enables an architect, say, using Archicad, to ask the AI Assistant questions like, “Show me all the load-bearing columns and beams.” The AI Assistant then answers, “Certainly, I selected all the load-bearing columns and beams,” and then updates the viewport inside the Archicad BIM software to show you exactly what you asked and nothing else. Clearly, the implication of this leaves an impression on the observer or Architosh reader.

Promising that this is just the beginning, AI Assistant will go deeper and provide even more capabilities inside all Nemetschek Group tools, with more applications from daughter companies happening later in 2025 and beyond.

“Our AI Assistant represents a foundational shift in how we approach innovation and collaboration. By unifying our ecosystem with a seamless, intelligent AI Assistant and by combining cutting-edge AI capabilities with decades of expertise in the AEC/O industry, we are enabling our users to push boundaries and reimagine workflows while offering trust and reliability,” said Charles Sheridan, Chief AI & Data Officer at the Nemetschek Group.

“The AI Assistant is our first AI agent-based technology, and it builds on the AI layer announced in October 2024,” explained Julian Geiger, VP, Head of AI Product and Transformation at the Nemetschek Group. “The AI Assistant delivers a consistent and cohesive user experience across our brands, empowering users to enhance creativity and productivity with smarter tools while seamlessly transitioning between brands through a familiar interface.”

This AI Assistant technology will certainly add value to the Nemetschek Group ecosystem as more and more Group solutions unify around common technologies, including those destined for the Nemetschek Cloud.

Differences in AI Assistant

There are differences in how the new AI Assistant interacts with tools. The example given above is for Archicad and is more integrated. In the case of ALLPLAN, AI Assistant showcases multi-touchpoint functionality by extending capabilities to the Internet, providing the user with product knowledge (that is knowledge about ALLPLAN), AEC/O industry insights, and not-described advanced tools to take on complex project requirements.

Inside Archicad AI Assistant also provides product knowledge (of Archicad), industry insights, BIM model queries—which is very userful—and AI Visualizer integration.
