WiseBIM AI—From 2D Plans to Revit BIM Models

French-based WiseBIM SAS has an interesting AI-driven Revit automation add-on to the popular BIM authoring application by Autodesk. The new Revit add-on can ingest various forms of 2D plan files and automate the process of turning that data into a full 3D BIM model in Revit.

WiseBIM AI

This is one of what will emerge as a series of technologies that will automate the complex task of building information modeling (BIM).

From within Autodesk Revit, using WiseBIM, the add-on, users import an architectural 2D plan from DWG, DXF, PDF, JPEG, TIFF, or PNG file, and within a few minutes after setting some parameters, a full Revit model is created. WiseBIM says it uses AI technology to detect the correct elements in the input and turn them into Revit BIM elements, such as walls, doors, windows, etc.

One must set the scale of the image naturally at the beginning of the process. Other settings include height, families, etc. Other settings will include sill heights for windows, opening heights for doors and openings, and other similar height-based information. These are all adjustable elements after the Revit model generation process.
