Lenovo has introduced the new ThinkPad P16, a new power-packed mobile workstation for taking on demanding workflows while on the go. In today’s hybrid remote-work model, workstation users are needing more flexibility to deliver complex workflows across numerous industries from a variety of environments.
Historically, the levels of power associated with workstation-class workflows meant sacrificing true mobility with compute power. With today’s advancements in chip design and thermal performance, combined with innovative display offerings, users don’t have to rely on bulky and heavy laptops to get the true workstation mobility they need.
ThinkPad P16
This week Lenovo introduces its latest mobile workstation computer, the ThinkPad P16. From engineers, scientists to designers and architects, the ThinkPad P16 offers top-of-the-line performance in a Windows mobile workstation inside a compelling form factor.
“Our customers have spoken, and it’s clear that they want the best of both worlds—a mobile workstation with top-of-the-line performance in a portable system that looks as good as it performs,” said Rob Herman, Vice President, Workstation and Client AI Business Unit, Lenovo. “The elevated external appearance of the new ThinkPad P16 better aligns with the extreme power found inside for a complete package—delivering the technology and sophistication to tackle even the most compute-intensive workflows, whether at home, on the road, or in the office.”
Everything Today’s Professional Users Need in a Modernized Design
With an all-aluminum storm grey chassis and a red accent across the back of the system, the new ThinkPad P16 offers an elevated design while providing the same reliability, security, durability, and expandability that users have come to expect with a ThinkPad P Series mobile workstation. Built to combine the best features of the ThinkPad P15 and P17 into an all-new compact and improved form factor, the P16 packs in the high-end performance and features of the P17 into a modern 16” chassis.
To offer that high-end performance and maintain a smaller footprint, Lenovo’s thermodynamics engineers had to create an all-new cooling solution with dual fans, heat pipes, a dual vapor chamber, keyboard air intake, and dual by-pass design to reduce skin temperatures and maintain productivity. This innovative solution allows for more airflow through the chassis and keeps the P16 cooler and quieter even during the heaviest workloads that power users like animators, engineers, architects, and designers put the system through on a daily basis.
The ThinkPad P16 boasts a new 16” low blue-light display, but that screen real estate translates into a 16:10 viewing area with a higher screen-to-body ratio thanks to narrower bezels, and higher pixels per inch, and higher vertical resolution and space. There’s also an OLED Touch option with pen support.
Additionally, the new mobile workstation features enhanced aesthetics such as a wider touchpad an integrated fingerprint reader in the power button, and an FHD camera for better picture quality on video calls. Users will also have better connectivity than ever before with the new Wi-Fi 6E1 and optional 4G LTE.
Inside the ThinkPad P16
With this new stealth and lighter-designed chassis, the P16 features some impressive internals. They include:
- Intel 12th gen HX CPUs — an industry first on the Intel X86 architecture side, the P16 features a 55-watt processor with higher core counts and faster clock frequencies delivered via a new hybrid architecture featuring performance cores and efficiency cores combined with intelligent workload optimization.
- NVIDIA RTX A5500 GPUs — featuring 16GB of dedicated DDR5 memory or up to 128GB of memory.
- Up to 8TB storage via performance SSDs
- ISV Certified at the highest level to pass MIL-SPEC standards 2 — allowing users to take their workloads to the highest level of a trusted and reliable device.
Lenovo is also committed to the environment and utilizes 30 percent post-consumer recycled plastic materials (PCC) in the speaker enclosure and 97 percent PCC in the battery pack frame and FSC certified materials used in the carton and accessory box.
The Lenovo ThinkPad P16 has been recognized with important certifications like ENERGY STAR® and EPEAT™ Gold registered in the United States.
The new ThinkPad P16 mobile workstation will be available later this month starting at USD 1,979. To learn more please click here.
