Nvidia VR Snapshots with Iray

Nvidia Iray can now create panoramic views of your designs. The new feature is called VR Snapshots and offers a quick and easy way to produce them. New in Nvidia Iray is the Spherical Camera, included now in the Iray plugin for Autodesk Maya. (see image below)

Those interested can try the plugin for free for 90-days trial. Click here. A special note. Those interested in Iray for Mac should make their voices heard. On the page link above, you can complete the form which asks for which Iray plugin a user is interested in. Numerous popular 3D apps are listed and a comments box is also available to voice your larger (uh hum…) Mac concerns.

BOXX Over-Clocked 4.4GHz Workstation

Boxx currently has two over-clocked workstations running at 4.4Ghz. Those are insane speeds  and ideal for single-thread oriented applications like Autodesk Revit or SketchUp.

01 – The new NVIDIA Iray VR Panoramic feature utilizes a Spherical Camera in software to create images like this.

Dubbed the world’s smallest workstation, the APEXX 1 1401 is actually quite tiny. While not as small as the Mac Pro, it comes in a convenient form factor with handles for carrying it around and it is indeed quite tiny. It features the new four-core Intel i7 Skylake processor but Kabylake processors are just around the corner. We don’t fancy talking about Windows hardware much here, but this machine is deserving of the attention—especially in the face of no new Mac Pro update.

Trimble Connect News

Trimble will at long last be moving its Trimble Connect product off of the old GTeam domain to its own company Trimble.com domain.

Trimble Connect is a popular web application in the AEC industry, acquired from Gehry Technologies where it was known as GTeam. The importance of this is so customers can make sure they update URL references to Trimble Connect they may have in email footers, company websites, project websites, etc.

Trimble has also officially changed its name, from Trimble Navigation Limited, to Trimble Inc. Additionally, the company has completed its reincorporation from the State of California to the State of Deleware.

“Trimble’s name change reflects the evolution from our origins as a GPS products company to a leading provider of integrated information technology solutions,” said Steven W. Berglund, president and CEO of Trimble. “Our new name better represents the diversity of both our technologies and markets.”

The reincorporation was previously approved by shareholders at Trimble’s 2016 Annual Meeting. Stock certificates previously issued for shares in Trimble Navigation Limited, the California corporation, automatically represent shares in Trimble Inc., the Delaware corporation, and stockholders are not required to exchange stock certificates as a result of the reincorporation.

McNeel Simplifies Online Accounts

McNeel has also simplified their online accounts so that users have just one account for all McNeel sites like Discourse and www.rhino3d.com.

If you are a Rhino user then you know what I am talking about. Users’ Discourse accounts have been  migrated to McNeel accounts.
