AIA News: Actor Kevin Spacey to Keynote AIA National Convention 2016

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has announced that Kevin Spacey will headline the next national convention of architects in the United States, which takes places 19 – 21 May 2016, in Philadelphia.

In the announcement the AIA states:

Kevin Spacey’s talents for disruption and drive to challenge the status quo distinguishes his incredible career. He’s one of Forbes’ most powerful celebrities, famous for House of Cards, Usual Suspects, and American Beauty. And he has a message to inspire architects and design professionals. Don’t miss the incredible opportunity to hear his keynote at AIA Convention 2016. 

Spacey as Innovator

The AIA cites Spacey as a true innovator. He has revolutionized TV drama with the debut of Netflix’s first original series, and for leaving Hollywood to become the Artistic Director of the Old Vic Theater in London after winning an Oscar for American Beauty.

In 2014 Forbes magazine named Spacey one of the “Most Powerful Celebrities” and was the first online-only TV series star to make the list. Most recently, he was awarded an Honorary Knighthood by Her Majesty the Queen of England.

AIA Convention in Philadelphia

There will be over 170,000 square feet of booths, galleries, and lounges at the upcoming national convention. Nearly 800 exhibitors will be on hand at the show.

New this year is the Interiors Pavilion. Inside attendees can explore the Trends Hub to experience the latest in interiors products. Of course there will be the live debates and discussion panels and all the educational sessions. And the city of Philadelphia itself!
