Abvent of France intros Artlantis 6 with new physical renderer

Abvent S.A. of Paris, France, today announced its new Artlantis 6, its latest version of its stand-alone rendering application developed especially for architects, designers and architectural visualization professionals. Used by more than 85,000 architects and designers in over 80 countries worldwide, Abvent’s latest version features a brand new physical rendering engine.

Artlantis 6: Simply Physical

Artlantis 6 now includes its own built-in physical rendering engine, emphasizing physical-based precision, material accuracy and energy conservation. The new physical renderer features white balance control whereby you adjust the dominant color of a scene to the ambient lighting. The program also includes new ambient occlusion to help solve shadow problems where natural light will not penetrate certain areas of a scene. The result is a more even-handed sense of the lighting.

Acknowledging a trend that some of the BIM programs have recently introduced, Artlantis 6 now features a White model option but allows lights to maintain their colors. In white model mode all surfaces change to white except those with transparent textures (e.g.: glass).

01 – Abvent’s new Artlantis 6 has a new White Model mode for quick renderings that look like this. All materials are turned white except those with transparency.

Other new features include a standard lighting measurement system with power units measured in lumens. By default, Artlantis 6 offers 8 IES pre-set profiles. You can now download IES profiles from manufacturers’ websites. Neon lights have also been updated.

Artlantis 6 now features a new Site insertion feature that helps architects and designers accurately match a 3D model to a photograph of say, the site. A revolutionary new feature allows you to add transparency to a foreground image directly in Artlantis. Finally, a new laser tool helps you align textures and objects in space by working just like a physical laser tool in the real world.

Final Notes

Artlantis features an Artlantis Media Store which is accessed with one click from within the application. Additional features help users organize their materials, view recently used media, shaders and objects and utilize a new “drop-drop” tool that randomizes materials chosen from the library.

Artlantis 6 supports Retina displays on Mac, KeyServer support on Mac and Windows and now includes an autosave feature, among many other smaller improvements. There is a free webinar to learn about the new features on 6 May 2015. Click here to learn more.
