PanzerCAD’s Cameramatch is now available for Vectorworks 2015

PanzerCAD is a software developer making third-party add-on solutions for Nemetschek Vectorworks. Their best known solutions include PanzerCAD Cameramatch and PanzerCAD Doodle, the latter of which automatically creates free-hand drawing like qualities to vectorial information in Vectorworks.

Architosh has looked very closely at CameraMatch before, (see, “Product Review, Cameramatch for Vectorworks,”  Architosh, 12 December 2010.) when John Helm, NCARB, carefully detailed what the tool does and why users may want to employ it for their work.

In a nutshell Cameramatch is photogrammetry software that allows the user to use a photograph as the basis for setting the three dimensional planes in a CAD or 3D software viewport. By matching up the three dimensional space inside software to a photograph, the photograph can serve as a visual backdrop to computerized models in Vectorworks. An example might be taking a picture of an empty block in the city and developing a design for a building at the lot. Now with this software you can model the project and use that photo to accurately form the basis for a view of the building. Picture and model are perfectly matched and aligned.

This means more accurately that the photo’s vanishing points in perspective are co-linear with the vanishing points of objects in the computer software’s space.

01 – Cameramatch process and interface.

Before the invention of camera matching software users would match up 3D models in computer space over photographs dropped into the background behind the models. The process was extremely arduous and time consuming.

Cameramatch 2015

PanzerCAD Cameramatch 2015 includes view matching, view tuning, masking (which hides parts of the rendered model that should be behind objects in the photo), cloning (masks objects which can be used to clone areas of the photo), and shading and shadows. Cameramatch has its own shadow tools.

There are videos on their website that show all of these features and how they work and look.

Availability and Requirements

Cameramatch 2015 works for both Mac and Windows versions of Vectorworks and requires Vectorworks 2015. The per seat costs is 120.USD for the first license and 80.USD for each seat after that. Upgrades are 60.USD for the first license and 40.USD thereafter.
