BIM goes RAP and welcome to the Spider Dress

Meet the BIM Brothers

Just before the holiday break I was treated to the knowledge of this fun YouTube video titled, “The BIM Brothers—Added Value,” produced by Graphisoft’s US-based colleagues.

The lyrics begin, “It’s the BIM brothers, take one…architects know, that when you turn pro, you burn slow, especially if your firm’s chose workflow came from a BIM salesman, with no plan…buy another rendering package, no ma’am, you see I’m a grown man…”

The main theme of the video is about the added value CineRender, the rendering engine from Maxon, which is included and integrated into ArchiCAD 18, adds to architectural practices using this popular BIM authoring package.

Anyway, check out the video for some fun. ArchiCAD and BIM fans alike on Architosh will surely enjoy watching this fun parody video, as it is well done, informative and entertaining.

Meet the Spider Dress

This one comes compliments of Autodesk’s Lynn Allen’s Twitter wall. Fast Company has a feature article titled, “Fend Off Unwanted Advances With The Ferocious ‘Spider Dress’.”

01 – Spider Dress was created by robotic couture designer Anouk Wipprecht. This image captured from the vimeo feature on the design.

The article begins, “If you don’t want to talk to that creepy guy at the party, you could put on your best bitch face while pretending to text someone. Or—more fun—you could don this magnificent Spider Dress, by Dutch robotic couture designer Anouk Wipprecht.”

For anyone who loves sci-fi in books and films, chances are you may take a liking to this wonderful creation by Anouk Wipprecht. The dress resembles a futuristic corset and eco-skelton with insect-like extensions that move. The entire dress was 3D printed and includes extra-sensitive proximity and stress sensors. Very cool indeed!

You can read more about it here, as well as see the gallery of images.
