Mac 3D News: Renowned Maxwell Render software now free to Students and Faculty

Next Limit of Spain, the makers of high-end professional 3D software, has announced that the popular Maxwell Render photorealistic rendering software program is available free to students and faculty.

Maxwell Render is a leader in the ultra photorealistic rendering field and is renowned across the CG industry from design and architectural visualization to animation, VFX, and creative digital arts. The company notes that using Maxwell Render gives students and their portfolio the edge they need to stick start their careers in the competitive CG industries.

“I am year 4 of the 5 year program,” says Amanda Moor, student at UCL, The Bartlett School of Architecture. “We mainly use Maxwell Render and always from the Rhino plugin…Overall I would say that Maxwell is the simplest render program I’ve used at college or work and quite fast to get a good image, and the free materials library is really good also.”

Maxwell Render integrates seamlessly with all the major industry platforms, including: ArchiCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, formZ, bonsai 3D, Maya, CINEMA 4D, LightWave, modo, Houdini and 3ds Max. It also works with mechanical CAD like SolidWorks and supports third-party plugins for solidThinking, Autodesk Inventor and the free Blender. You can also use Maxwell Render for post production applications like Adobe Photoshop and After Effects (AE), plus Nuke.

Free Educational Licensing

Licenses have no technical restrictions but are for non-commercial use only. There are annual and floating licenses available for individuals, individual instructors, classroom seats and school render farms. The license server and networking functionalities are included.

For students there is an annual, node locked license for use at home study on one personal computer.
