Tidbits: Artisan by Lightworks, Gehry Technologies and other news

Artisan by LightWork Design

Lightwork Design Limited of the UK has launched a brand new website and product offering called Artisan for CAD Applications. The product is a rendering solution add-on that brings easy-of-use to the visualization process for CAD and design professionals who don’t have the time and resources to master complex dedicated 3D software.

In several ways the photorealistic rendering solution, from one of the world’s leading rendering engine API developers, is similar to tools like Luxion’s KeyShot where a button appears within a hosted or connected CAD system and with a touch of the button one’s 3D assets are directly inside a new application where rendering and visualization work can happen.

01 – Lightworks Design’s new Artisan solution is an add-on rendering tool that simplifies visualization from a CAD users perspective.

At the moment the CAD systems that work with Artisan are quite limited but interesting. They include ZWCAD and ZW3D, both of China and Bricscad. A special note. Bricscad is said to have a Mac version of their popular CAD tool coming to the market in 2014. We will be tracking that to see if it comes to fruition. To learn more about Artisan go here.

ArchiFM Grows in Popularity

Over at BIM How dot com, there is an interesting article about ArchiFM, a tool that is related to ArchiCAD. At the Graphisoft website ArchiFM is described on its Partners website as a proven BIM-based solution from vintoCON, providing  a seamless integration with ArchiCAD.

BIM How says there are some major reasons why ArchiFM is growing in popularity, including a real time data harmonization between the BIM model and the FM database and users, making sure that changes and reports are rapidly managed by everyone.

ArchiFM can also import BIM models from other BIM programs using IFC files. ArchiFM provides an Asset Planner to review events forecast and handle long range resource plans. These include area management, asset management, tenant/contract management, and move management.

The application also provides website access to submit maintenance reports and track issues. And there is a help desk reporting service which is for end users/residents to report breakdown events, et cetera. To learn more about ArchiFM and to read the full article go here.
