IMSI Design of Novato, California, was at Autodesk University last week and the company was showing its latest versions of its TurboSite mobile app lineup. The company has recently in the fast few weeks made some adjustments and changes to its award-winning TurboSite app.
The Deep Need for Field Reporting
In late November IMSI announced that TurboSite Standard v2 would be now free. TurboSite Standard v2 turns mobile devices such as Apple’s iPad or iPhone into first-of-its-kind field reporting tools.
“Everyone in AEC does field reporting…it’s about 25 percent of the workflow associated with large projects,” said Royal Farros, CEO of IMSI Design. “For the first time, there’s now a free, easy, free mobile tool to help reduce up to 80 percent of the burden associated with documenting findings in the field.”
TurboSite Standard is the free version of a three level app TurboSite series. With it you can do nearly all the same things as the paid versions but are limited to two (2) GeoMarks embedded into your documents.
TurboSite Plus and TurboSite Pro do provide unlimited GeoMarks, a way for the app to use the iPad or iPhone’s GPS technology to geo-locate and tag your position on a TurboSite document plan in the app while you are in the field. The benefits of this are explained in our recent review of the app here.

TurboSite Pro adds enterprise features that are not present in the Plus version. These include real-time Apple FaceTime or Skype conferencing, extended interoperability with dozens of industry standards applications, and a wider selection of powerful viewing options.
TurboSite Plus retails for 199.USD and can be also be purchased via subscription for 9.99.USD per month. TurboSite Pro retails for 499.USD and can be also purchased via subscription for 29.99.USD per month.
