Luxion and Autodesk Partner to Transform Product Design

Luxion, the makers of Keyshot and a leading developer of advanced rendering and lighting technology, and world CAD giant Autodesk, have today announced a significant partnership between the two companies.

Luxion’s Keyshot will now be an integrated rendering solution for users of Autodesk’s cloud-based Fusion 360 software for industrial and mechanical design. Luxion’s technology integration means that Fusion 360 users–who are able to work on PC or Mac because the software is modern and works with the cloud–will be able to quickly create photorealistic 3D renderings, animations and interactive visuals used in communicating design concepts, delivering prototypes and creating sales and marketing visuals.

The Technical Details

The way this will work is that using a plugin that has been custom developed, users will be able to transfer their Fusion 360 models to KeyShot from directly inside the application, make updates in Fusion 360 and see these changes instantly within KeyShot.

Luxion’s LiveLinking technology makes this possible so that any changes made to a model in Fusion 360 will be transferred immediately to Keyshot. Users will be able to do texture mapping, work with materials setup, adding lighting and setup animations inside KeyShot while continuing to work on and refine their models in Fusion 360.

“I’m loving KeyShot with Fusion,” said Stan Hisel, Product Designer and Mechanical Engineer, “It just seems like they were made for each other.”

Availability and Pricing

Both KeyShot and Fusion 360 work on Mac OS X and Windows platforms, giving designers complete freedom to use and harness the technology they love and have available to them in the studio, at home or at the client or customer’s locations.

KeyShot will go live to Fusion 360 on Wednesday, 9 October 2013 within the latest version of Fusion 360. Users of Fusion must first install the free plugin. In addition, Autodesk Fusion 360 customers will be able to purchase KeyShot or upgrade to KeyShot Pro, as well as purchase Luxion’s patent-pending add-on applications, KeyShot Animation and KeyShotVR through the KeyShot website.

KeyShot 4 retails for 995.USD while KeyShot Pro offers more features and unlimited image resolutions for 1,995.USD. You can learn more here.
