Graphisoft introduces ArchiCAD 14

Graphisoft today announced the next version of its award-winning industry-leading BIM application ArchiCAD 14. Delivered ahead of schedule the Hungarian-based company has increased its efforts to deliver best-in-class “Design Collaboration” technologies in a Building Information Modeling application for the AEC industry.

Building on its patent-pending BIM server technology and next-generation Teamwork 2.0 collaboration features delivered in the last version, ArchiCAD 14 focuses on delivering productivity improvements for architects throughout the full cycle of the BIM workflow with a particular focus on the integration of the architectural workflow with the engineering world. ArchiCAD 14 turns IFC technology into full-fledged workflow solutions for enabling collaboration with engineers regardless of their discipline or the name and version of the software applications they prefer to work with. This “open” approach to interdisciplinary collaboration greatly broadens designers’ options for real Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) resulting in faster delivered projects and significantly less coordination errors.

“Building Information Modeling (BIM) has created unprecedented potential for design collaboration between the various trades,” said Miklos Szovenyi-Lux, Vice President of Product Management at Graphisoft. “With ArchiCAD 14, Graphisoft helps designers realize the true potential of model based collaboration and engineering software into intelligent ‘workflow solutions’ for industry-first open design collaboration.”

Key Elements in ArchiCAD 14

Version 14 introduces workflow solutions that help bridge the requirements gap for BIM models between architects and various engineering disciplines using different tools in AEC. ArchiCAD 14 introduces new features such as model mapping, element classification, IFC reference model version tracking and change management support. These combine to help create a smooth workflow between architects and engineers.

Version 14 also upgrades the innovative Graphisoft BIM Server technology and Teamwork functionality.

Further improvements include productivity improvements based on global and local customer wishes, better modeling construction elements, better 3D visualization, enhanced 2D drafting, improvements to handling libraries and library parts and refinements across the program. All of these conspire to making ArchiCAD 14 the premier BIM solution for architects worldwide.

ArchiCAD 14 will be available for purchase worldwide on June 1, 2010 with physical shipments starting on June 9, 2010. Those attending the AIA National show in Florida that month will be able to see version 14 in action.
