modo used for Design of NASA’s New Moon Rover!

In a nutshell, Luxology’s modo is an innovative 3D modeling, painting and rendering software, designed to accelerate the creation of world-class models, associated color and normal maps, and ultra high-quality renderings. Luxology was proud to announce the participation of modo in the rendering of a prototype by NASA designers at the Johnson Space Center.

The reason for NASA’s selection of modo, out of all the 3D rendering design softwares was that they needed precision. Luxology reports that they, NASA designers, relied heavily on modo 302 features such as Micropoly Displacement, which allowed them to get the texture of carbon fiber just right. Luxology is proud to have their softwares participation in helping NASA’s new Moon Rover, which was presented to the public for the first time at President Barack Obama inauguration ceremony yesterday, January 20th 2009.
