h.e.i.z Haus Architecture and Planning has been awarded first prize in the 2007 Wine and Architecture competition for its “Schloss Wackerbarth”, a state-owned vineyard project in Radebeul, Germany.
The award is given by the German Ministry of Economy.
The new production plant and renovation of the Baroque castle together reshaped the neglected property into an experiential world of wine. The project achieved a fascinating contrast between the Baroque terrace of the historic castle and the new contemporary architecture of the new production plant.
h.e.i.z Haus, based in Dresden, Germany, has made a name for itself with its redevelopments of historic buildings and is also active in residential and industrial architecture and urban planning.
