Engineered Software Update for Leopard Users Mandatory
Engineered Software has updated PowerCADD to version 7.0.6 for better Leopard compatibility. They have added an optional setting in the Print Dialog under PowerCADD settings to print dimmed layers using a gray pen pattern instead of using transparency — a helpful approach when printing to Postscript devices that have quality or time (speed) issues when using transparency. This update also addresses stability issues with Leopard’s new “Spaces” feature. For more information go here.

Last week Graphisoft made a string of announcements, one of which is the establishment of Graphisoft Sweden. Lasercad AB will now operate under the brand Graphisoft Sweden. “We have already achieved a very strong market share in Sweden,” says Magnus Dulke, Managing Director of Lasercad and of the newly formed Graphisoft Sweden. “Graphisoft is a powerful global brand and we are proud to further develop our business under the name of Graphisoft Sweden.”
3D Basecamp – SketchUp
The SketchUp folks have announced an upcoming 3D Basecamp event, a three-day SketchUp bonanza summit which will be held June 11-13 at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California. Camping in Silicon Valley — Google Style! The company is still working out the details but is asking folks to save this date in mind. There is an event FAQ web page here.
Google is also announcing Project Spectrum to connect people on the autism spectrum with free software and learning materials. The company has discovered the amazing work of children with autism who often possess visual and spatial strengths.
VectorWorks News
Clearscapes, PA, wins AIA North Carolina Firm of the Year Award. The Raleigh-based firm uses VectorWorks for their practice which was formed by architect Steven Schulster and sculptor Thomas Sayre. The firm is currently working on the Raleigh Convention Center as part of a sixteen-member national design team.
