Graphisoft sponsors International Design Competition

International Ideas Competition for Conference Center over the Danube

According to a press release, Graphisoft, the pioneering developer of the Virtual Building method of design CAD software, is offering architects a unique challenge: to design the first known building to be situated over the Danube, one of Europe's most important waterways.

The conference center will be dedicated to the architectural profession and will play host to numerous types of industry events, including design exhibitions and user-community events focused on ArchiCAD and ArchiFM product technologies.

The Conference Center site is adjacent to Graphisoft Park, a 7.5 hectare site where the high tech buildings of glass and steel meet the historic industrial buildings in a lush landscaped environment. A pair of old industrial pillars in the river offer an exceptional opportunity to build this 350 sq meter conference center over the Danube.

The International Ideas Competition has been approved by the International Union of Architects and is open to all registered architects. A prize of $30,000US will be awarded to the winner with $15,000 and $8,000 being given to second and third place entries, respectively.
