Architosh - Status Reports: Autocad, G4's and Other Info

Architosh is officially in rumor alert status at the moment. We will be delving into the various dirt that is circulating around and combing through our own inside information. If you have any news to share with us please do so.

Autocad on Mac OS X News and Petition Status

We have nothing to report now. We will be reporting on new petition numbers and stats in the Expo time frame. In addition, we are currently still collecting original petitions and we are also in a detail survey petition process. We may eventually post the detail survey online for folks to fill out.

Revit and AIA Docs

We posted a story on Revit in the recent past. In a nutshell, Revit is not ignoring the Macintosh market because they don't like Macs. Quite the contrary. They have much admiration and respect. But they are a new funded company that must watch its development dollars carefully. Ultimately, upon success and survival (not in that order) Revit may produce a Mac version if the market deems it worthwhile for them to do so.

For those anxious to have Revit on the Mac now, we suggest you take a look at BOA, which is Mac-first and built to take advantage of the Mac's key strengths.

On the AIA Electronic documents front we have nothing new to report. We have been in contact with the AIA in Washington by email. Their plans still call for a native Mac version to be underway this year.

New G4's and Other Scoop

Little birds are talking to us. We are not going to make any predictions just yet (stay tuned though) but the word in the air these days points to some good things, especially in the longer run, looking toward 2002 and beyond.

Apple is clearly interested in the 3D market. Word has it that Jobs is actively engaged in courting film and special effects studios and may actually be paying visits to show off new Macs and Maya running on OS X.

As for Pixar? Well, Macs are everywhere in the place, they are just not being used to render the final movie that's all.
