Karl, very good point and perhaps I shouldn't have made such a bold statement. The iPhone by the way seems to be finding its center as Apple Watch becomes a better notification center and takes on health and fitness functions. The iPhone becomes a device you "go to" versus the Watch which taps you on your shoulder. Developers do a find a way and perhaps some day I can imagine 3D and CAD working on such a small screen but not today. I do think communications work for project management is very attainable on a small screen like the iPhone—which keeps getting bigger with each new major overhaul of the design. And it looks like Apple has the iPad Pro and Pencil aiming at the desktop with the addition of large monitor support.

Anthony, I agree with everything but your third to last sentence, "People love their iPhones but real design work happens on desktop computers." Really, from mister Apple design-evangelist himself.

Its just never wise to say never. Progress proves us wrong. And its not iPhones that threaten the macbook or iMac for 'real' design work, its iPad Pro + Pencil.

Its like what fictional mathematician Ian Malcolm would have said, "(Developers) find a way."
