MacCAD News: VectorWorks sets record, over 100,000 seats

VectorWorks Sets New Company Record by Selling over 100,000 Seats

Architosh News Release: Columbia, Maryland (September 14, 2000)--Nemetschek North America announced that VectorWorks' seats have exceeded 100,000 as of August 2000. As the company's flagship product, VectorWorks was originally launched at the Macworld Expo 1999 and has been on the market for less than two years. Not only a major CAD player in the United States, VectorWorks is a global leader with fifty percent of sales coming from the overseas market. Its strong international presence is a result of VectorWorks' vast network of distributors and resellers.

Richard Diehl, Nemetschek North America CEO, stated, "Since I started this company, the main goal was to become a heavyweight contender in the CAD market. VectorWorks has achieved this goal and will facilitate our new long-term goal: to become the world's best-selling CAD product."

As of August 2000, sales figures revealed that the company has sold approximately 105,000 seats. Diehl continued, "This achievement is a clear indication that designers are realizing that they do not have to spend thousands of dollars on their CAD program to get cutting edge technology. Over-priced CAD products, like Autocad, have had their moment, but now it is time to step aside given that VectorWorks can offer design professionals the high-quality functionality they want at a price they can afford."

Company officials stated that sales are likely to increase even further due to the introduction of two new products in the VectorWorks Industry Series. Scheduled for Fall 2000, the new vertical market products will target the landscape and theater lighting industries and will ship before the end of the year. These products are expected to follow the lead of the first product in the series, VectorWorks ARCHITECT, which is already an enormous success.

Nemetschek N.A. (formerly Diehl Graphsoft) is a wholly owned subsidiary of European software giant Nemetschek AG. A global leader in design technologies, Nemetschek N.A. has developed CAD software for the personal computer since 1985. VectorWorks, is one of the world's best selling CAD products and has more than 105,000 users in over 85 countries.
