MacCAD News: VectorWorks ARCHITECT sales top 1100

15 Jun 00

From a recent press release regarding sales of VectorWorks ARCHITECT:

Columbia, Maryland (June 14, 2000) -- Officials at newly named Nemetschek North America (formerly Diehl Graphsoft) report that sales of its Vector Works ARCHITECT plug-in are on pace to set internal sales records, with more than 1,100 units sold in the U.S. since the product's late January debut. That feat is all the more impressive in consideration of the company's recent string of internal restructuring moves following its merger with Nemetschek AG of Munich, Germany, which was finalized last month.

VectorWorks ARCHITECT, Nemetschek N.A.'s first industry specific design software, has emerged as the breakthrough product in the company's new add-on strategy for VectorWorks. Company officials say the significant sales of ARCHITECT point to a high level of acceptance of the new product strategy.

Richard Diehl, CEO, Nemetschek North America, stated, "We are pleased with the positive reaction regarding our latest product strategy as evident in the robust sales of ARCHITECT. Additionally, our recent merger bolsters this strategy through the aspect of improved technology, as well as the support of a powerful financial base to fund further research and development of our upcoming add-on products."

Nemetschek North America affirms that it is moving forward with the new add-on strategy and that as many as four products will be introduced in 2001. This family of add-on modules will target the MEP (Mechanical/Engineering/Plumbing), Landscape, Mechanical Engineering and Theater Lighting industries. Also in production is VectorWorks 9, which is expected to launch early next year.

Additionally, in August the company will relocate to a newly constructed, larger facility in Columbia, with plans to increase its engineering, marketing and technical support staffing levels.

While VectorWorks ARCHITECT presently has limited international distribution, the company is working with its international partners to release all of its add-on products overseas. Company officials anticipate a successful introduction into global markets due to two major factors: VectorWorks' strong presence in North America, South America and Asia, and Nemetschek AG's strong presence in Europe.

Nemetschek AG, founded as a consulting firm in 1963 by civil engineer, Professor Georg Nemetschek, is one of the largest architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) software vendors in the world, with annual revenues exceeding US $120 million (245 million DEM). Nemetschek North America, formerly Diehl Graphsoft Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nemetschek AG and is responsible for North and South America as well as the Pacific Rim countries.
