Mac Architect: Problems using Project Center Web portal?
Experience by Macintosh-based architects in project portals like ProjectCenter.com sought. Jackson & Ryan Architects, a 40 person all-Macintosh office in Dallas, Texas, wrote in to tell us that they have discovered a problem with Mac firms using ProjectCenter's services for web-based project management system. Apparently the problem has more to do with a Java applet that depends heavily on Project Center then with ProjectCenter itself, with the Java applet not running on the Macintosh. The architects wish to inform and persuade others to let Project Center know that Macintosh compatibility is an important issue in regards to using their services. With growing web-based project management and document sharing services increasing in AEC, Mac architects need, perhaps, to be more vocal and aggressive in promoting equal access to these services early on, rather than later. If your Mac-based firm has already experienced using new project portal technologies from companies such as Project Center and others, please write us at Architosh and share your experiences. It would be of great importance for others to learn about compatibility issues using these new Web services. Thanks in advance.
