Apple to Strengthen Commitment to Higher Education

16 October 99.

According to an email message sent out to higher educational customers Apple will be strengthening its commitment to "higher education". This commitment comes at a time when Apple's market share continues to rise and the company has all four quadrants of its simplified product line completed with compelling new computer systems. Apple will be specifically hiring additional Apple employees in higher education sales and support.

The document specifically addresses the renewing of Higher Education Sales Agent Agreements, due to expire January 1, 2000. The message reads:

"The additional resources for higher education will be reflected in an increase in Apple personnel dedicated to higher education customers. With the addition of these employees--account executives, systems engineers, business development executives, and sales support personnel--higher education customers will benefit from increased attention and response directly from Apple."

Service levels on Apple equipment are not affected by this change and between now and the end of 1999, there will be no change in assigned Apple representatives. For more information call 800-800-2775.

For those who missed our news story on the new Macintosh in Architecture web page at Apple's higher education website, go take a look. You will notice a new vitality to the higher education web site, with new pages directed at specific fields of study. These resources Apple is putting together form the basis of forming "toolkits" for integrating computer technology into the higher educational curriculum.
