AppleCool: What's Cool at Apple.com Now!
AppleCool is our term here at Architosh to describe "what's hip and cool -- and often free -- at Apple.com" right now! Let's face it, Apple's site is vast, varied and full of changing content that you may miss on occasion. Luckily, once a month we scout out what we think is hip, fun and especially FREE at our favorite computer company's Web site. Enjoy! For Architects and other 3D Pros... Jonny Shirts and Virtuality Now! Apple's own Creighton Nolte -- an architect by training -- brings to you an interview with Jonny Shirts and his beautiful virtual reality scenary work for broadcast video, television and print. The attention to detail and the "atmosphere" he creates in his virtual reality scenes is really amazing, the kind of atmosphere that used to be created in traditional watercolored renderings for architecture and what is lacking in so many 3D scenes for the AEC field. Jonny's work sets a great example of what can be achieved. Free 3D and Animation Software! Apple's Design & Graphics page list two items you can get for FREE right now! Linker Systems is giving away FREE copies of Animation Stand Personal Edition, a powerful 2D animation program that can export to QuickTime movie format for further video manipulation. Comes with complete online manuals and support files. Also, Pixels3D, by Pixels, is giving away version 2.1.3 of that 3D program. Boy! can't beat free software.
Zaha M. Hadid, First Architect, joins the most recent AppleMasters class... The first architect to be an AppleMaster, Zaha Hadid's work is highly celebrated and published within the critical architectural community. She is not only the first woman architect on the AppleMasters list but the first architect as well. Zaha Hadid is yet another example of how Macintosh can help you create cutting edge designs in architecture. Zaha Hadid apparently does not have a Web site nor is her AppleMasters Web page completed. Extensive bibliographical information on her can be found at the Frances Loeb Library at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University. (http://www.gsd.harvard.edu/library/bibliographies/hadid.htm) Other notables in the most recent AppleMasters class include the actress Lauren Bacall and the paleotologists Richard and Meave Leakey.
