Architosh to cover Mac AEC at Macworld Expo NY

8 July 99.

Anthony Frausto -- founder, editor, webmaster and official waterboy -- of Architosh will be in attendance in New York with his wife, Susan Hopper, marketing manager of Architosh, to cover the big event from "all-angles Mac-AEC". In addition to visiting the booths of CAD, animation, 3D and modeling software vendors, we will be talking to plotter and printing companies, Internet and Intranet developers and web authoring software companies. The focus may be broken down into the following areas:

  • Software: CAD, Modeling, Rendering
  • Software: AEC applications of all types
  • Software: "Getting your AEC office on the Internet" - that being the theme
  • Hardware: "Getting your AEC office on the Internet"
  • Hardware: Plotters and Palm Pilots, etc.
  • Software: Financial and General Business Software

We will also be looking very hard at all manner of QuickTime development applications, QuickTimeVR applications, and animation software capable of animating CAD and 3D files. All of this material will be covered in multi-day Special Expo Reports, similar to our Seybold coverage -- complete with photos of the exhibit spaces, especially Apple's pavilions.

Although a detailed schedule as not been defined yet, it may be possible to look into items of interest to Architosh readers who cannot attend the event themselves. If you have a particular request send it in and we'll see what we can do. Also, we may also attend the Town Meeting event and provide our own take on its discussions.

General Apple news will be covered lightly, as that material will be covered in detail in all the general Macintosh press. As always, we'll try to bring the hottest links in our links section to your attention.

An Architosh Get Together?

If you are planning to attend Macworld Expo in a few days and would like to meet us at the Expo, meet for a drink some night, show me your Macintosh-based New York office, or take me golfing at a prestigious Long Island golf club -- just kidding, but not really) send us a note and we'll try to coordinate something. It would be great if a number of Architosh readers could get together somewhere and talk about the state of Mac in the AEC world, but I will definitely leave the coordination up to a native New Yorker. Since we have never been to Expo in the Big Apple, the trip will definitely be a learning experience, especially updating the site from a hotel room (hoping that will go fine).

As we move closer to the event in time, we will post more information about our coverage of Macworld Expo. If you have any comments, please share them with us. Thanks.
