Mac-first, MiniCAD VectorWorks Overtakes AutoCAD in Japan
Diehl Graphsoft, the maker of popular Macintosh-first CAD program MiniCAD VectorWorks, has announced that VectorWorks has overtaken AutoCAD as the CAD software leader in Japan. According to a press release [not yet posted on their website], the cross-platform VectorWorks program was voted the premier software choice of CAD professionals in Japan, beating out worldwide CAD leader AutoCAD. For more than a decade, MiniCAD (now known as VectorWorks) has been the top CAD software on the Macintosh platform in the US and is an emerging global leader in the Windows market. Diehl Graphsoft based these findings on the results of a nationwide survey in Japan, conducted by the major monthly architectural publication, Kenchiku-Chishiki. The survey substantiates the fact that VectorWorks is now the most popular architectural CAD software in Japan. Diehl Graphsoft states that with the introduction of VectorWorks' "Architectural Studio" later this year in the Fall, their position in Japan [as well as worldwide] will only grow stronger. VectorWorks is sold via direct sales in the US from Diehl Graphsoft, while it is marketed internationally through a global distributor network. Globally, VectorWorks has enjoyed record sales volume selling 7,532 units into the Japanese CAD market in March alone. For more information click here [not yet posted].
