AU 2016: Looking at Allegorithmic’s New Substance Source Architecture Texture Library

Late last week Allegorithmic released a new themed library for the architectural market at Autodesk University 2016. The new ready-to-render PBR Materials feature full compatibility with V-Ray, Corona and Iray.

The Substance Source—Architecture Collection, is a special extraction of the new Substance Source material library that can satisfy an architect or arch-viz pro’s most common daily needs. Physically based, these new texture assets can be dropped into any 3D scene to provide stunning photorealistic rendered results, with various materials like concrete, marble, glass, paint, wood, metal, brick, textiles, et cetera.

Substance Source—Architecture Selection

The new materials library launches with over 200 render-ready assets. They were designed and curated with a former material library director for Wilmotte & Associates, a prominent global architecture firm headquartered in France.

Each material is tweakable by the end user, though they are ready to go for the high-end visualization. Users can adjust everything from color to procedural patterns. Quality settings are also available to the user so they can optimize material resolution for different projects, up to 4K.

“One of the big requests we’ve heard from architects and visualization teams is that creating photorealistic materials from scratch, or even creating them from photos, was exceedingly time consuming, almost prohibitively so,” said Pierre Maheut, product manager for architecture and industrial design at Allegorithmic. “Having the ability to add high-quality materials with just a few clicks will make the process more accessible to everyone.”

Applicable to V-Ray, Iray And Others

Substance Source materials are ready to to be used with top industry renderers, like V-Ray, Corona, and Iray. The materials are optimized for real-time and VR environments, including game engines like Unreal and Unity, which are increasingly important within the AEC industries.

Now anyone on the visualization team can quickly and easily add more detail and high fidelity to their interactive projects.

In the coming months, Allegorithmic will continue to expand this selection with regular updates, including scanned and procedural materials. To see the full library and access free samples, please visit the Substance Source website.

Pricing and Availability

Substance Source – Architecture Selection is available through the Substance Live Indie and Substance Live Pro monthly plans, or through a one-time full access purchase (Pros – $1,490 and Studios – $2,990) with 12 months of updates.
