The 51.5 MB iBook includes video and images and establishes a comprehensive overview of the Industry Foundation Classes  (IFC) open file system for interoperability data exchange for BIM applications.

The IFC Guide iBook discusses the IFC file format in detail, providing background, required glossary terms, related concepts, discussion of IFC file types (there are fundamentally two with compressed versions of both available), and other advanced topics.

The guide also includes advanced IFC topics and naturally being a Graphisoft project goes over detailed IFC configuration options within ArchiCAD itself. An important factor reviewed in the book is how to handle mapping of object parameters to IFC properties. Additionally, this process takes into consideration inter-app IFC mapping such as handling Revit to ArchiCAD IFC data exchanges or ArchiCAD to other BIM application IFC data exchanges.

The Special applications section of the iBook reviews details of working with Tekla and ArchiCAD together, as well as a similar section on working with Revit Structure and ArchiCAD together.
